My passion for animal welfare began in childhood when I thought of becoming a veterinarian. My career took a different path, however, until, in the last years before my normal retirement date, I decided to act on my childhood dream. Bideawee gave me that opportunity when they hired me as a supervisor in their animal hospital.
I was privileged to be a part of Bideawee, where dogs and cats, puppies and kittens, are treated with tender, loving care while waiting for their forever homes. Management and staff share a “never give up” attitude, with support and tireless efforts to heal – physically, behaviorally, and spiritually – the animals that others have discarded.
Any pet that passes through Bideawee on its journey home is a lucky one! It didn’t take long before I adopted my first Bideawee kitty, followed over the next few years by four more. Now, I’m retired and living in Pennsylvania, and three of my Bideawee kitties are still with me. To honor them all, and the wonderful organization of which I was a part for 10 years, I’ve included Bideawee in my Estate plan and am proud to be a member of the Kibbe Society.
The Flora Kibbe Society is named for Bideawee’s founder who was a pioneer in the animal rescue movement. This society was created to recognize and honor the hundreds of visionary supporters who have ensured the future of our organization by including Bideawee in their estate plans.
