Like many of you, and many others out there, I adopted a pup during the pandemic. (Read all about it in this previous blog post.)
And like most, I wanted to make sure that I was starting out on the right foot, and raising a dog who would not only be a well-behaved member of the family, but also one that had all of the tools and training to be safe, secure, and confident in any situation she might find herself in. But just because I am the CEO of a 118-year-old animal welfare organization doesn’t mean that I have the skill-set to best train a puppy. Quite the opposite! It’s the like the old saying that the shoemaker’s children go barefoot. But unlike the shoemaker, I do know enough to turn to others for help and lucky for me, I’m in just the right position to do that.
I also know that not everyone is that fortunate, and that the price for training a puppy can be prohibitively high. Add to the mix that we have been living in unprecedented times where people have been isolated in their homes and it’s a recipe for a lot of puppies to grow into undersocialized dogs with various behavior problems. We know that these problems increase the chances that a dog will be surrendered to a shelter for destructive behavior, and while we haven’t seen any increase in returns at this point, we want to make sure we are preventing these problems BEFORE they start.
That’s why I’m thrilled to announce our partnership with Dogs Trust USA (the non-profit affiliate of Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity) – to provide affordable, expert training to support our community. Dog School UK is one of the most popular and successful training programs in the UK and they just launched their Dog School USA program. We are so excited to be giving Bideawee adopters and others the opportunity to sign up for this four-week program at just $99.
Now, I can tell you first-hand that this four-week program for puppies, adolescents and adult dogs is just the thing to set even the most novice dog parent on the right track because my pup, Aja, and I just graduated the course! We signed up for the adolescent classes, which focus on foundational skills because that’s what we needed, but there are classes for all ages and training needs! These classes are virtual so there are less distractions for you and your pup and you can enjoy them in the privacy of your own home. They are also interactive, in real time, AND you’ll have access to a training expert (for any additional questions you may have) for the entirety of the program..
So, whether you’re the proud parent of a new puppy, an adolescent, or an old dog who could stand to learn a few new tricks, check out our Dog School program. At less than $25.00 for each hour-long class, it’s a steal, and will provide you and your dog with the support you need to ensure a happy, healthy, lifelong relationship together.
